MSE Scientific Committee: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Alexander Hartmaier

After his education with a Diploma course in physics at Universität Kaiserslautern and his Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) at Universität Stuttgart, Prof. Dr. Alexander Hartmaier started his career at the Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung, Stuttgart followed by his work in the department of Research engineering at Hilti Corp., Lichtenstein. From 2002 till 2005 he was Group leader at Max-Planck-Institut für Metallforschung, Stuttgart, before he was appointed Professor for Materials Science at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. In 2008 Prof. Dr. Hartmaier followed a vocation of Professor for Mechanics of Materials at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Furthermore, he is director at the ICAMS (Interdisciplinary Centre for advanced Materials Simulation).

Prof. Dr. Hartmaier is member of the DGM since 2006 and was active as director of the DGM Nachwuchsausschuss for several years until 2016. He is also a member of numerous technical committees within the DGM. Furthermore at the general assembly of the DGM in 2016, he was elected to be chairman of the executive committee of the DGM from 2017 to 2019.

In 2016 he was already involved to the MSE Congress as coordinator of the topic “Modelling and Simulation”. For the MSE 2018 he is part of the Scientific Committee.
