It is happening again: The Materials Science and Engineering 2016 (MSE) the largest English speaking congress with accompanying trade fair in the field opens its gates for luminaries and rising stars alike. I invite you to join us from September 27th to 29th at TU Darmstadt, Germany!

The last MSE attracted over 1,400 participants – a lone record that we of course would like to beat this year. Chances are good, since we have an especially attractive program and a special highlight: Our guest country is the USA – one of the most important economic and science regions in the world. With the Materials Research Society (MRS) and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS)

For the conception as well as organisation the DGM could win over the two biggest US societies in the field of material science: the Materials Research Society (MRS) and The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS). Ideal conditions to look beyond  European borders and to network for the future. I find particularly exciting that about 50 students from the MRS and TMS will visit the MSE. I am really excited by the prospect of an extensive exchange between young talents from Europe and the US.

With this in mind I wish you all a fruitful reading of the DGM Newsletter. I already look forward to seeing you at the MSE 2016 in Darmstadt in September with exciting discussions, fun and nice weather.

Prof. Dr. Oliver Kraft

Vicepresident for Research at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT)
