Dear reader,

the aim of every International Conference on Cellular Materials 2017 (CellMAT) in Dresden is to trigger the information exchange and to initiate contacts between scientists from academia, industry and research institutions. This year the famous Dresdner Striezelmarkt, one of Germany´s oldest and most famous Christmas Markets, adds an especially charming scenery.

The conference covers a variety of aspects of manufacturing, surface modification, property analysis, modelling and applications of cellular materials. The conference is dedicated to all classes of materials including the material combinations thereof.

A unique feature of the CellMAT is the presentation of focused research in a special session. Researchers from a Collaborative Research Centre of the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg present results of more than five years of joined research on active and reactive ceramic filter materials for advanced metal melt filtration.

Scientists of all related areas are welcome to participate actively in our conference. International experts give keynote lectures, invited lectures and contributed talks and posters about applications, e. g. in the automotive industry and transportation, in mechanical engineering, for chemical and energy systems, for environmental purposes or for micro and medical devices and functions. Best posters will be awarded for the promotion of young researchers and conference proceedings will guarantee publication of the most relevant results.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Dresden.

Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Michael Scheffler
Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany
